Technology development started at a very high pace during the 20th Century. Like many other areas of development, photography also saw major developments in its field. Photographic camera technology has seen a constant improvement from way back in 1913 when a 35 mm still camera was produced till 1985 when digital technology was first introduced in photography by Pixar.

Basically digital camera is an electronic gadget which captures and stores photographs in a digital format without using any processing films. The first true digital camera was launched in 1988 by Fuji Company .This camera used a memory card for storage purposes. The latest models of Digital Cameras are also able to record sound and video. These digital cameras store pictures on a small device called CCD (Charge Coupled Device). From Digital cameras the images can be transferred to computer and the images can be edited with the help of software like Adobe Photoshop.

Advantages of digital cameras

Convenience of use: The foremost advantage of using the digital camera is that you don`t need to worry about buying films and changing the rolls. You can click as many pictures you want, transfer them to computer, have a close look at them and get only the good ones printed after editing them thoroughly.

Edit options: The Digital cameras allow you to edit the photographs in the easiest way with the help of software. The color, brightness and contrast of the photo can be adjusted and the image can be cropped and resized as required. This helps to optimize the resolution of the photographs.

Economical: Digital cameras are economical in the sense that they do away with the cost of films and the cost of processing. When pictures are taken in bulk quantity the cost of films saved works out to a considerable amount.

Flexibility: You can view the photo you have just clicked on the LCD display of the Digital Camera and if you don`t like it you can retake the same.

Disadvantages of digital cameras

Quality of output: For professional reproduction purposes the conventional film camera is still the best as digital cameras cannot match them in resolution and depth quality.

Initial Cost: The initial investment cost for digital camera is higher than the photo film camera. The cost of the camera for home use runs from around US$ 150 to $1000 whereas the professional models cost may go as high as US$20000.

Slower Speed: Digital cameras take some time for storing the images which is unsuitable for action photography in which you need very fast clicks.

Important features

The digital camera quality largely depends upon its optic features, color depth, resolution etc. While shopping for a digital camera one should take care of following.

High Resolution: Resolution of a digital camera depends upon its capacity to store the dots or pixels. The more pixels it can store the higher will be the resolution. Cameras with a capacity of 5 mega pixels or more are ideal for home photography while professional photographers may look for a capacity of more than 7 mega pixels.

Capacity: The capacity of the digital camera to store pictures is also very important. The cameras have a built in memory capacity and additional memory card slot to store pictures. The cost of the memory cards is high but nevertheless they are very important to serve the purposes of storage.

Bit Depth: This relates to the color capability or the capacity of a digital camera to reproduce colors. Good cameras are capable of handling 24 bit color which fulfills the range of the human eye.

Optics and zoom features: A good camera must have optical zoom lenses with automatic flashes in order to produce better images.

Display: A good LCD display is important for a digital camera as it allows the user to flip through the images he has taken.

The digital camera is certainly becoming more and more popular in the modern era and is set to replace the conventional ones for all general purposes.

This is a question asked my many of us who are allergic to strong perfume fragrances. Perhaps the belief that perfume acts as an aphrodisiac holds its own to other more practical reasons to use these aromas.

Historically, perfume can be traced to the early Egyptians who mixed smoldering resins and woods and used them in their religious ceremonies. It was believed that perfumes were pleasing to the gods and would earn them better places in the next world. These deeply spiritual people were so concerned about keeping the gods pleased that containers of various perfumes were placed throughout the burial site. Some sources indicate that similar perfumes were used in. Evidence as to the strength of the perfume used was first experienced when the tomb of King Tutankhamen was open and the fragrance wafted through the open door. The fragrance was present for over 3,000 years!

In more contemporary times, a story is told of Napoleon, Emperor of France, who sent a letter to his lover Josephine telling her that he was returning home from battle within the week and directing her to not bathe until they had seen one another. Rarely are we ready to be in the same room with someone who has not bathed for several days so what was behind Napoleon`s letter?

Those who research human interaction, have discovered some unusual information regarding particular scents. It is believed that some of us have our appetites triggered by specific odors. Interestingly, our `fragrance center` is located in the same area of our brains with the arising of emotions. Perhaps this explains some specific actions such as an adult smelling a certain aroma and that triggering an emotion from his/her childhood.

Moving forward in history, we find the use of perfumes in the lavish Roman baths. Here, the bathers often applied perfume two or three times a day! Pets (dogs, horses) were often perfumed and during certain festivals, birds were released from their cages in order to spray them with perfume. Most of us would have stopped perfuming with dogs and horses, but not the Romans. They also liberally applied perfume to furniture, accent pieces and other household items. Of much interest is the evidence that servants wore different scents from non servants.

Most sources of information regarding perfume, note that the perfume container has always indicated the pleasantness or desirability of a particular scent or type of perfume. My own research has found fairly simple perfume containers many with near astronomical prices.

Perhaps the most significant information for consumers is that scents do not smell the same on all people. Because we each have scents of our own, some perfumes will react negatively and the desired effect of the perfume negated. It is important to test a scent before investing $50-hundreds of dollars in a small bottle!

Not all perfumes are alike. They have been identified as such: Perfume, which is the strongest and has the longest lasting aroma; Eau de Perfume, which is used to layer in preparation of the body for perfume; Eau de Toillett, much less concentrated that the others and is reported to smell much better than it would seem to indicate; Cologne, is the lightest fragrance and only lasts for a brief time.

Correct application of the perfume is also essential in conveying the desired scent. Perfume should be applied to pulse points such as the wrist, the inner elbow, neck, and behind the ears. These spots also provide heat necessary for the dissemination of the aroma.

Lastly, it is suggested that perfumes be applied following a shower and that they be applied directly to the skin and not to clothing. The advice to spray perfume into the air and to walk through the droplets has been found to be a myth.

A notebook or laptop is nothing but a small portable computer that weighs 2.2 to 18 pounds (1 to 8 kg), that depends on its brand, style, size, material it is made of, and many other factors. Notebooks generally operate on a single main battery or through an external adapter that can both charge the battery and also supply power to the notebook.

Notebooks are adept at performing the same jobs like a personal desktop; the only difference is that they are generally less powerful for the same cost. They consist of similar components like desktop computers and execute the same functions, except that they are miniature in size and suitable for transportable use and effective power consumption. Notebooks usually have LCD and different memory modules. They have a built-in keyboard; input is done through a touchpad or a pointing stick, though an external mouse can also be attached.

There are different categories of notebooks. UMPCs are Ultra-Mobile PCs and are very portable. Since they are of a small size they can fit in a small touch screen while some other models have a minute physical keyboard along with a mouse interface. The other type is Ultraportables which are notebooks and have screens less than eleven inches and have less than 3.7 pounds (1.7 kg) of weight. They are generally used by business travelers, as they are small and light though very expensive. They have an extended battery life and integrated graphics. The other type of notebook is the Sony VAIO FJ76, and Dell XPS M1330 and XPS M1210. Then we have the mainstream notebooks that are more of budget desktops. And if you want desktop power, then you can opt for desktop replacement which can accommodate many performance components.

As far as the processors are concerned you should go for the fastest that your budget will allow. You can opt for Intel`s Centrino that has great speed and also good battery life. Or else you can also go for the economic AMD`s mobile processors whose performance still lags behind Intel. If you intend to watch DVDs on your notebook then go for wide screen ones that offer sharper, larger and great images. The only consideration is that they are not meant for carrying around a lot.

For great system performance it is vital to have enough memory (RAM) that will allow you to run many applications together. Adequate RAM is also essential for image and video editing, graphics work, and 3D gaming. Generally notebooks have a terrible sound quality so it is recommended to use speakers or headphones. These are some of the factors that you need to consider before buying a notebook.

Also keep in mind that like any electronic device, your notebook is vulnerable to accidents as well as system failures. It is recommended to get at least a three year warranty and also some additional insurance.

Health hazards related to using a laptop has been a controversial topic for quite some time. Researches have proved that heat generated from notebooks can raise temperature of scrotum, leading to reduced sperm count. A solution can be using it on a table or keeping it apart from the lap that will enable better cooling of the notebook and also prevent your lap from excessive electromagnetic radiation and heat.

Some of the famous brands that have notebook are Acer that have TravelMate, Ferrari and Aspire models; BenQ; Compaq with its Armada, LTE, EVO and Presario models. Other famous brands are Gateway, HCL, Lenovo, LG, Micro-Star International, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba and others.

An astonishing number of people own and use a cell phone, with current figures totaling over 800 million worldwide. It has has become an important part of daily life, and improves business and travel opportunities, whilst providing the best possible level of communication across the globe.

However, the high numbers of users are also subject to changing trends for a number of reasons including improved features, fashion and accessories. This means that upgrades are a regular occurrence, with each device being used for an estimated 12 to 18 months. This means that there is a lot of cell phone waste.

Many users are not aware of the potential damage to the environment that incorrect disposal of cell phones can cause. Incorrect disposal means throwing any cell phone away, which is the typical fate assigned to an unwanted device. However, components within it can have a terrible impact on the environment and so need special disposal. All cell phones contain persistent metals which do not degrade in the environment. They also contain bioaccumulative metals which become toxic over period of time.

For instance, cadmium which is present in a cell phone is significant enough to cause damage in small doses. It is the seventh most harmful known chemical, and is capable of causing cancer. Cell phones also contain lead which causes liver damage in adults and neurological development problems in children when entered into the bloodstream. Other hazardous substances such as nickel and mercury provide further cause for concern.

If not disposed of properly, the metals from the cell phone can leak into the environment through corrosion and cause a series of problems in the environment. If thrown away, it will go to a landfill where it will remain. As many elements do not decompose, the level of harmful toxins increases and so does the potential damage. Lithium can burn with water exposure, and so can potentially begin underground fires when present in large quantities. Any of the hazardous or poisonous substances could contaminate local water supplies or the nearby soil. If either of these is affected than the toxins enter the food chain with terrible results.

In effect, incorrect disposal of the cell phone can create a form of poisoning. The immediate effects include health problems such as genetic or reproductive defects and detrimental effects upon the nervous system and delayed general development. The long term effect is global pollution. When waste that can not be broken down properly such as that in a cell phone is decomposing it creates methane gas. Methane gas is more damaging than CO2 and so has major impact on global warming. Not many people realize that all this can be caused by disposing it in an incorrect manner.

The best way to combat cell phone damage to the environment is to recycle it by returning it to a shop. This includes the accessories also. Some shops will ensure the product is sent to developing countries for reuse. Others will reclaim the metal parts to prevent them going into a landfill. Some cell phone companies even make a charity donation for every recycled device to encourage the practice. The other possibility is that they will ensure the product is sent for proper disposal. This includes disposal of hazardous materials.

Whichever option is used, the positive side effect is that less hazardous waste goes into the environment. Now that you know the facts, make sure that you dispose of your cell phone properly and remain environmentally sound with this one simple gesture.

A Pen Drive is a compact, removable storage device just like a floppy disk or a CD. Instead of the floppy device or the CD ROM that are used for reading a floppy disk and CD respectively, a pen drive can be plugged into the USB (Universal Serial Bus) Port of a computer. The USB connectivity makes the pen drive easier to use and data can be transferred faster to and from the pen drive.

Different Manufacturers have named Pen Drives they manufacture differently. Today, a pen dive goes by the names of thumb drive, USB flash drive, Jump Drive, Traveler`s Drive, USB key drive, USB memory stick and many others!

These pen drives are small, inexpensive, almost ubiquitous and extremely handy. They are available largely in the range of 1 to 8 GB which makes them of great use and has made floppy disks and CDs look like useless storage mediums.

The credit of inventing the pen drives goes to IBM. It was invented in 1988 to replace the floppy disks, but IBM never patented it. IBM contracted in M-Systems to manufacture the Pen Drive and the patent is now owned by them.

The pen drive is a modern floppy disk. The main difference is that a floppy disk has moving parts which makes the data stored on the drive vulnerable to loss. A pen drive, on the other hand is a solid state device i.e. it has no moving parts. This makes it possible to almost completely seal the pen drive making it dust-proof and the common magnetic fields. Hence, a pen drive is a much safer option for storing important data.

The latest operating systems like (Windows XP, Linux and Mac OS 2) can recognize these pen drives and mount them automatically. Once it is connected, recognized and mounted by the operating system, it appears just like any other partition of the hard disk except it is named as removable storage.

The pen drive can be removed any time after it is un-mounted (safely remove hardware in case of Windows) and can be re-plugged into the same or a different machine to be used again. A pen drive`s most important use is to transport data and files from one machine to another. For e.g. one can simply copy all the word processing documents, images and spreadsheets to the pen drive, carry it along and copy the files on his/her home computer and work on it at home.

Some users have found the pen drive useful in moving their internet browser History, Cache, Cookies, and other transient data. This improves their privacy and security as no traces of the work done on the machine is left on the PC. Once copied to the drive, the files can be made more secured by encryption or any other method of security.

The pen drives can also be used to store operating systems to boot the computer. This makes them popular for repair and diagnostic work. Instead of carrying tools and maintenance software applications on CDs, a pen drive can be used which is faster and can be manipulated easily in case the software is upgraded or is no more useful.

A pen drive is one of the most economical mobile medium for data storage in terms of cost per unit storage space. They are really light-weight and robust in nature which has made it a big hit and a very important and indispensable tool for a large number of users.

Investment is one of the most common ways to make money in modern times as people have less disposable income and want more freedom of choice over their money. The internet has made all types of investment accessible, and more people are becoming interested in how investments can work for them. One of the most obvious and easy forms of investment is jewelry. It is easy to purchase and it is a commodity that everyone is familiar with.

Gold jewelry is the current hotspot in jewelry investment. Jewelry is proven throughout history to be a longstanding and stable investment, being popular throughout time. This is because the price of jewelry and the financial returns made rely upon many factors, not just the price of the precious metal or stones used at that moment in time. Jewelry has survived many economical collapses, worldwide. It is not susceptible to fluctuating stocks and shares or currency markets and so does not lose its value.

Jewelry is an art form. It is subject to originality and intricacies in design, and there is always great demand. Recent global reports state that the demand for gold jewelry is rising by an impressive 19% a year, which is a record breaking amount. Jewelry demand is predicted to rise even further. All jewelry is covetable and collectible and becomes worth more with age. This can be reflected by the way in which gold stores are used; around 75% of all gold consumed is in the form of jewelry. The World Gold Council states in its latest gold report that in the US in 2006, jewelry sales totalled $44 billion.

Jewelry makes a visual statement about the person that is wearing it and so it is an enjoyable investment also. Like in ancient times, jewelry is closely associated with wealth, and so gives the wearer a confident demeanour. Jewelry as an investment has many advantages. For instance, antique jewelry can be bought and sold rapidly for a quick turnover; the demand has already been established above. Jewelry prices are also subject to trends. The latest jewelry fair in Vicenza states that yellow gold is of the highest demand in both the US and Europe, so it would be a good investment. However, due to the nature of the fashion industry this means that white gold jewelry will be a trend at some point soon.

The secret of jewelry investment is to know what you want and where to get it. This has been made much easier by the internet, as dealers can be contacted and business completed between any destinations on the globe. Furthermore, the internet has increased possibilities for jewelry wholesalers who can advertise their goods more easily, which means investors can get more jewelry for their money. A jewelry dealer will be able to provide you with information on the quality of the piece and the style, but a gold advisor or investment professional may be needed to ensure you buy the right type of jewelry for the investment you are looking for.

When buying gold jewelry, the most important factor is the caratage. The caratage details the amount of gold content present in the jewelry. Gold is pliable and so needs other metals such as silver and copper to be added to make it durable. This also affects the colour of the jewelry. The purest gold jewelry available is 24 carat and will be a strong yellow-orange colour. Jewelry in other colours can have a lower caratage as bigger quantities of the other metals are required to create the special effect. However, this does not mean that for white gold jewelry will be any less wise an investment as a yellow gold piece, as design, designer and personal taste also feature in the value.

Make sure you choose jewelry that reflects your tastes and brings you joy, as well as thinking of the long term investment to enjoy its full value.

The development in science and technology in recent years has not just been about developing of devices that make life easier, it has also been a lot about making life more luxurious. One such great development has been the concept of digital camera.

Digital cameras are nothing but cameras that allow you to take pictures digitally instead of having to use cameras that take and store pictures on photographic films. They are easy to use, and are generally multifunctional, providing various facilities. Digital cameras are known for taking good images, which are as good as the pictures taken by the conventional cameras, if not better.

In fact, digital cameras allow one not only to click great pictures; they also allow one to view the pictures as and when taken. Therefore, if you take a picture, and are not satisfied with the way it looks, and if you still have the opportunity of capturing that special moment, you can go on clicking your camera, till you get exactly what you desire.

Digital cameras also allow the option of using a flash light as and when required, to obtain a much clear image. In many digital cameras, there is also an option for taking automatic pictures. This is especially meant for those special moments, when everybody wishes to get included in the picture, without being left out, staying behind the lens.

Digital cameras also allow the user to shoot as well as save videos. Generally the sound and the picture quality is good, though it mostly varies from camera to camera. The flash light can be used while video shooting too and the fact that these are so portable and handy, they allow you to carry them anywhere for any length of time with great ease. Options can be set for automatic video shooting to, in case nobody is willing to stand behind the lens.

There are digital cameras that also allow you to change the style and color of the pictures you may be taking. For instance, you may set an option to take only black and white pictures, or pictures with a bluish or reddish hue. Some digital cameras also come with special lens that can focus and take pictures of a much wider area. Sometime you also might be able to take your own pictures as well as videos, staying behind the lens by adjusting them, if your digital camera gives you that option.

However, one of the greatest benefits of using a digital camera is probably the fact that it allows you to click a large number of pictures without having to worry too much about the memory space. The pictures may be saved in CDs, which means that no matter how long your vacation maybe and how many pictures you end up taking, you do not run out of space trying to save those sweet memories. This not only makes digital cameras more convenient to use, but it also makes it very cheap as compared to the traditional cameras.

However, the special features provided by the digital cameras vary from one camera to another, depending on the producing company, and of course on the price range of the camera. With the rapid development in digital cameras taking pace every now and then, and the prices coming down heavily, with each new discovery, digital cameras are fast becoming one of the most popular electronic goods of the modern world.

Suddenly possessing a digital camera has become a necessity in this fast changing world. Whether one loves photography or not, possessing a personal digital camera is surely one luxury many of us crave for!

A cellular phone or mobile phone is a portable, long-range, electronic gadget used for transportable communication. Apart from the standardized voice function of a cellular phone, the mobile phones that we have in market today support many additional features like SMS or short messaging service for sending and receiving text messages, sending or receiving email, storing contact information, make reminders or to-do lists, using the inbuilt calculator for performing simple arithmetic calculations, get all kinds of information about entertainment, sports, news or stock quotes through packet switching through the Internet, playing games, watching TV, sending or receiving MMS for photographs and videos and incorporate other devices like camera, MP3 player, GPS receiver etc.

You can not do without it or loathe it but you just can ignore the humble cell phone that has made its way to almost every person`s pockets. With the increase in use of cellular phones the question about its health and environmental hazards has also risen. There has been a lot of debate regarding the issue whether cellular phones are indeed responsible for cancer or any other type of health risk. There are some researches that firmly say that using it can indeed cause brain damage. Linking the cellular phone with causes of cancer has also been a favorite topic of argument. Though it remains a controversial topic till date but the fact is that there is no solid research that can prove that cell phone usage has any link to cancer. The only exception is the case of driving and talking simultaneously that can indeed caused lots of accidents.

Today you are spoilt for choices when it comes to buying a cell phone. You have all kinds of phones like camera phones, video phones, FM phones and what not. In case you are floored by the various options then here are some guidelines that you must consider before buying a handset.

Wireless mode: it is preferable to use dual-mode phones that support both analog and digital than single-mode phones. This is especially important if you need to use your cell phone in rural areas and not just the main city.

Design: there are lots of styles to chose from, like flip-open or non-flips, clamshell-style phones; candy bar-design phones or slider style, or swivel phones that will twist open. Flip phones look chic but tend to break easily and are not suitable for rough handling.

Size and weight: the most important feature of a cell phone is its portability. Today all the leading cell companies are in competition to make the lightest and the slimmest phone. You can choose one according to your budget.

Battery life: choose a cell phone that gives you maximum battery life with a minimum of four hours talk time and 2 to 6 days on standby. Keep in mind that battery usage will depend upon your phone usage and the network signal. Do not forget accessories like car battery charger and adapter.

Screen: you should go for a PDA phone if you are planning to send lists of messages or frequently go online.

With the increase in number of cellular phones in one person`s hands itself; cell phone etiquette has become an equally important issue. You can find the irritating noise of phone ringers in the most inappropriate places like funerals, cinema halls and concerts, hospitals and plays. Some people have the irritating habit of speaking in public with an unusually loud voice at all places which has led to many places like libraries, book shops, theaters, houses of worship and doctors` chambers to prohibit cellular phone use. You should learn the basics of cell phone etiquettes and then attempt to use it in public.

The internet has revolutionized many areas of modern daily life, with information and communication being more accessible and reliable than ever. The world of academia has welcomed the internet, with information including online journals and ebooks being available in a flash. And now the ebook is turning towards the general public, offering a variety of texts in ebook format for the everyday reader.

An ebook is an electronic or digital book. The information is stored in a digital format which is designed to be read by as many different platforms and readers as possible. The electronic book is produced through document scanning using an OCR program which reproduces text electronically to a high quality. Some are only electronically published and so have the text entered into the correct format immediately. The format of the ebook can differ and each format offers its own special features. Electronic books can produce a wide range of effects such as grey scale or colour images, annotations, video and music clips, tables and searchable information. The ebook is an exciting and functional way to produce and read interactive information.

An ebook is made up of e-documents which each make up the pages. It is usually purchased for a low price and is then received immediately. And it is either received through an e-mail or downloaded from the web from a specified link. The electronic book is circulated by publishers, and can be sold in part, in sections or in full. Some publishers provide free samples of them so that readers can familiarize themselves with the format and usability as they are a relatively new concept for the general public.

As with any other product, ebooks are subject to electronic copyright and so can not be copied or passed on to other people. Although they are inexpensive to purchase, they offer many advantages to the publishers. Firstly, the production costs are low as there are no storage or printing costs, and immediate receipt through online delivery means lower prices can be maintained. Also, the sales are direct to the reader and so middle men can be skipped. These advantages make the ebook a cost effective purchase for the reader and so an attractive option.

Ebooks serve a variety of purposes and are produced in a variety of texts such as online magazines known as e-zines, academic journals, comic books, poetry anthologies and novellas. When the ebook first arrived it was initially for non fiction informative texts only, but the popularity and usability has encouraged the ebook to be used much more widely. It is predicted that they will eventually replace the printed book, with book shops only selling celebrity books and independent bookstores becoming obsolete. Amazon is currently leading the way as it holds the biggest ebook library.

The ebook industry is definitely a growing industry. Initially only independent publishers were using the electronic book to publish experimental and new voices in the literary world, taking advantage of the low production costs and simple distribution. This created a wave of expectation and interest and now major publishers are showing interest in the ebook phenomenon. Some electronic publishing is used in addition to printed paper copies for added sales and marketing whilst others are sold solely in electronic format.

The production of ebooks is now subject to the International Digital Publishing Forum which means that a standard is beginning to be set. There has even been an ebook nominated for a literary prize; in 1998 online originals published which was nominated for the Booker prize. ebooks now have their own best seller lists and awards such as the Dream Realm Award for fiction which was established in 2002.

iPods seem to be taking over the world. One sees them everywhere one goes, being used by adults and children alike. One sees them on the television and in the movies. It seems that people are going insane over them! It is actually not surprising that this little device is attracting such fanatical devotion; it is indeed a fantastic device; it might even be the coolest thing to show up ever!

The iPod is a pocket sized, ultra light hard drive based audio player, designed and marketed by Apple Computers. All the iPod models are user friendly in design, and can be used even by young children. They offer a simple user interface and a scroll wheel to browse the navigation system. Unlike the other portable cassette or CD players, the iPod stores media on in-built memory. What this means is that you do not need to insert a CD or cassette.

An iPod is practical, functional, and cute as well! There are three different sizes and shapes to choose from. There is the skinny little iPod shuffle; the slightly larger but even skinner nano, and the most popular regular iPod that can play all your favorite TV shows and favorite songs.

Some of the other Mp3 players available might have disadvantages if compared to the wonder of the iPod. It is not only a question of how many songs they can hold; the overall quality and the cute look of the little machines are truly matchless. They can hold thousands of songs and pictures, they are so tiny, and they come in such wonderful colors. The iPod mini came in green and pink and blue and other lovely colors. The nano and the iPod now come in white and black. All the colors are hot and look great.

What it has come down to is that when you want to go in for a new music player, you may consider to get an iPod. It will hold hundreds of songs; the battery life is great. You can play it for more than twenty hours before you need to charge it again.

When you buy the iPod, the iTunes software is included in it. This software uploads music and photos in the iPod and it has been likened to a jukebox. The function of this software is to play, store and organize all the music and video files on the iPod. With iTunes, you can connect to the iTunes Music Store and buy music files for playing on the iPod. Although iTunes has been developed by Apple, it will work with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating systems. ITunes is also freely downloadable on the web.

Apple Corporation released the iPod in October, 2001. Since then, the iPod has become the biggest selling portable hard disk player. It has sold around twenty million units in 2001-2005. The way the iPod was initially marketed also contributed to its enormous popularity, with excellent ads playing the coolest tunes in the background.

The tiny size of the iPod is its biggest advantage, and you can take it with you wherever you go. This can have its problems, as the iPod is delicate, and the screen and case are prone to scratching, even during normal use. So now a huge market has opened up, offering cases for your iPod to protect it from damage so that you can take it literally anywhere. The cases have options for clips and straps, so your iPod need never leave your side, until you want to put it away yourself.
