The easiest way to get rid of bad breath in just a week is to make changes to your regular oral hygiene routine. Although you might think you have done everything right in terms of brushing and flossing your teeth, there is still a chance that you are not. Let us take a look at some of the most important aspects of oral hygiene.

Brushing
First off, brushing needs to be done with fluoride toothpaste at least twice per day. While brushing, you should also take note that your brush strokes are correct and sufficient. You need to pay attention and brush the inner and outer areas of the tooth and even the flat surfaces of back teeth.

Some experts believe that you should spend about two to three minutes brushing to allow the toothpaste to have maximum impact on your teeth. Also, you need to replace your tooth brush every 3 months so that it can continue to provide maximum protection for your teeth and tongue. If you can, you should actually brush after every single meal but this is not always possible.

Chewing Sugar-Free Gums
In such situations, you can replace brushing with sugar free chewing gums. This is a great alternative that is easy to apply in your lifestyle. Of course, whenever possible especially in the mornings and evenings, you should choose to brush your teeth instead.

Cleaning the Tongue
One of the most neglected areas in the mouth is the tongue. This area must always be brushed. Apply a gentle back to front motion to remove bacteria and food leftovers that might get stuck there. In fact, not brushing your tongue is the most common reason for developing bad breath around the world!

Flossing
Flossing should be another important part of your oral hygiene routine. In order to prevent possible gum diseases, you need to remove plaque and food particles, even those located below the gum line and between teeth. This is easily achievable through flossing.

Visit Your Dentist
Usually you would not be able to remove everything properly; hence you need to visit your dentist once every six months. Your dentist will be able to perform a special cleaning session that will help clean up your mouth.

Conclusion
By applying the steps above, you will make a huge step in overcoming bad breath. So what are you waiting for, apply these steps today to overcome foul mouth odors in 7 days by making the changes that count in oral hygiene.

Bad breath is a truly disturbing problem that can affect your social life. Unfortunately, there are many causes and sometimes you may just need your doctor to help you determine the underlying cause of it...

Bad breath is a truly disturbing problem that can affect your social life. Unfortunately, there are many causes and sometimes you may just need your doctor to help you determine the underlying cause of it. The good news is that, in most cases, getting rid of it is not at all hard.

Here are some simple steps that will guide you through the most effective actions you can do in order to fight your smelly breath.

Toothbrushes
Most of us know that our toothbrushes need to be changed every three months. The first step towards fresher breath is to purchase a new toothbrush. Toothbrushes tend to become worn after more than three months of usage. The bristles fray and as such would not be able to clean your teeth and gums effectively. Food particles are very likely to be left behind after brushing your teeth with a worn out toothbrush.

Diet
The second step is to analyze your diet. Cut down on any food that might leave your breath with a foul smell. Onions, garlic and certain types of fish are well known to cause halitosis so avoid them by changing your diet and having less of such nasty foods.

Medication
The third step is to look at the medication you have taken. There are many drugs out there that have halitosis as a side effect. If you are presenting using any of these drugs, consult your doctor and ask for a possible substitute.

If none is available, ask the doctor how the drugs cause bad breath. This will allow you to understand the underlying cause so that the appropriate remedies can be applied. For example, if the drugs are known to cause dry mouth, you could then do whatever it takes to keep your mouth moisturize.

Mouthwash and Chewing Gums
The fourth step is to make use of mouthwashes and sugar free chewing gum. Ensure that your mouthwash does not contain alcohol but has oxygenation causing ingredients so that you can kill the anaerobic bacteria present in the mouth, which is one of the most common causes of your smelly breath conditions.

Sugar free chewing gum is perfect in both making your mouth generate saliva and removing eventual leftovers from an early meal (both situations are known to cause bad breath). Do not use mints as they usually contain sugar, which is a great source of nutrients for anaerobic bacteria.

Tongue Cleaner
The last step is to get a tongue cleaner. Brushing your tongue with a tooth brush might actually push present bacteria to the back of the throat, where they can live and multiply while causing extremely bad breath. Using a tongue cleaner is the best way to avoid this.

Conclusion
As you can see from above, getting rid of bad breath is not difficult. With these 5 simple steps, you will be on your way to cleaner and fresher breath.

Sometimes, even the best oral hygiene in the world cannot help you from getting rid of bad breath. This usually happens when the condition that causes it is not directly related to the state of your oral care. One such cause is due to infections. In this group, there are many types of infection that cause your breath to smell. It is very important to understand that in such a situation, the only way to get rid of bad breath is to treat the infection. This might involve antibiotics and it is crucial that you consult a doctor before taking up any medication yourself.

Below are some examples of such infections that might affect your breath conditions.

Strep Throat
Strep throat is a bacterial infection of the tissues located in the back area of your throat (also known as pharynx) and the adenoids or tonsils. It is a common disease and it is very common cause of bad breath.

Foul mouth odors are actually a symptom of the infection. The tissues mentioned above will get inflamed and irritated and this will cause severe sore throat. The most common symptoms are a fever that is higher than 101 degrees Fahrenheit, difficulty and pain in swallowing, different areas of the throat and tonsils presenting yellow or white spots and swollen lymph nodes present inside the neck.

Children can also develop strep throat and, as a result, may suffer from headaches, body aches, nausea, stomachaches and vomiting. It is easy to differentiate from colds as strep throat does not come with the associated symptoms of runny nose, coughing or sneezing.

In most cases strep throat will go away on its own in a few days but may also require antibiotics in order to eliminate the threat of possible complications like rheumatic fever. To eliminate this risk, be sure to consult a specialist as soon as symptoms appear.

Nasal Polyps
Nasal Polyps are a mass of swollen tissue that is mucus covered, which grows out of the sinuses into the nasal passages. More than one nasal polyp can appear and they will block the passage, making it very difficult to breathe and smell. It will cause the person suffering from it to only use the mouth for breathing, which will eventually dry the mouth.

This condition usually appears in individuals who suffer from respiratory allergies or chronic sinus infections. Nasal sprays that contain corticosteroids are used to treat small polyps and if they do not respond to such a treatment option, surgery is needed in order to remove them. The problem is that in most cases nasal polyps do return even after being properly treated. We can thus experience a constant struggle with the condition and bad breath would be the least of our worries in this situation.

Sinusitis
Another highly common infection that causes bad breath is sinusitis. People affected by this condition will tend to notice that their mucus usually have a really bad odor of its own. Let us understand how this comes about.

Mucus is made out of interlinked layers of protein. When mucus covers the back areas of the throat and tongue, it will create an environment that is oxygen free. This condition is known as post nasal drip and it is a direct cause of bad breath in people suffering from sinusitis. Anaerobic bacteria can feed on it and often that post nasal drip can cover large areas of the mouth allowing bacteria to easily multiply and produce waste products. These result in the foul smell we are familiar with. Patients suffering from sinusitis can also experience a constant need to swallowing because of mucus gathering at the back of the throat.

When talking about sinusitis and bad breath, we are dealing with two agents that cause foul odors: mucus and anaerobic bacteria. This is why the bad breath exhibited by patients is one of the strongest of all bad breath cases caused by various infections.

Closing Thoughts
Although all of these infections are well known to cause bad breath, it is important to understand that other infections can also have the same effect on our body. These examples include lung infections and mouth infection. Sometimes they are even linked to each other. For instance, if you are suffering from sinusitis and you are exhibiting dry mouth and throat, this could lead to mucus reaching the lungs because the road to the stomach is not moist enough to guide it properly. We will thus get a complication of sinusitis that will manifest itself as an infection of the lungs.

The best way to handle any type of infection, both internal and external, is to consult a doctor. There are different tests that need to be performed in order to understand which treatment solution will work best. Also, there is the possibility of developing various complications that can lead to even more problems such as having to undergo surgery. Hence, it is always advisable to consult your doctor when in doubt.

Nowadays, many individuals are turning towards alternative medicine when dealing with bad breath problems. Amongst the alternative medicine, herbs seem to be the most popular. Herbs are natural remedies and to deal with chronic bad breath, most herbalists would suggest using Cayenne Pepper.

Different studies have shown that this herb is beneficial for the digestive system and has a good effect on both the heart and circulatory systems as well. Cayenne is labeled as a nutritional herb and it is a high source of Vitamins A, B complexes and C. All of these vitamins help in the fight against bad breath by ensuring that the body is kept in tip-top condition.

Different reasons for bad breath
Some bad breath conditions are not directly caused by what we eat or by anaerobic bacteria. They could be caused by other reasons such as liver problems, colon problems or a general poor digestion. Using Cayenne in such cases might prove to be a very good idea.

This is because it contains important amounts of capsicum, a compound that has a direct impact in improving most body functions. The only thing that can be difficult to handle is the heat of the cayenne. Some individuals might not enjoy the hot feeling but those who do not have a problem with a little spice in their food will most likely enjoy it.

Cayenne also soothes the stomach and aids in digestion. It will also be a good weapon to fight bad breath because it promotes the proper processing of different fluids and also waste products in our bodies.

How to Use Cayenne
The best way to get Cayenne in your system is to make a tea out of one teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper and one cup of hot water. Drink such a cup one to 3 times daily and it will definitely have an impact on bad breath and will also come with the side effect of helping your vital organs function properly.

Conclusion
Unfortunately, although the benefits are numerous, not everybody will be able to get rid of bad breath by using Cayenne. If it does not work you might want to consult your doctor and see whether or not there is another condition that causing your foul mouth odors.

It is highly important to maintain an open relationship with your doctor and keep him updated at all times so that your doctor is aware of your needs and medical condition. This will help him to provide appropriate advise for you.

Nowadays, it is very common to find children who are experiencing bad breath. There are many reasons for this recent phenomenon. But for most cases, this is usually caused by children not paying enough attention to their oral hygiene.

These children do not brush their teeth well and often consume too much food stuff that promote tooth decay. Such food stuff usually are sticky or contain too much sugar. When left in the mouth, these foods can become an excellent breeding ground for bacteria.

No matter what the cause of bad breath is, in order to solve this problem, you will need to find out the underlying cause of it. This involves recording the times when this condition usually occurs so that you will be able to narrow your search to the possible causes. Whatever the case may be, you need not panic as, in most cases, this is not a severe problem and your child is perfectly healthy.

Cause of Bad Breath In Children
Saliva helps to keep our mouth clean. During the day, the child saliva helps by washing away bad breath causing agents with the help of mouth muscles. However, when the child goes to sleep, saliva will not be produced anymore and muscles relax.

The longer the child sleeps, the more anaerobic bacteria that cause bad breath will be reproduced. As most children do sleep a lot, this allows these bacteria to multiply and their breaths begin to smell. This is also known as children morning breath.

Most children will also show bad breath during the entire day and this is normal because most of them will be breathing through their mouths. Because of that it will cause the kids mouth to dry and this creates a perfect environment for anaerobic bacteria to appear and grow in numbers.

There are a lot of reasons for children to breathe only through ones mouth. In children, the most common conditions stand in sinus infections, various allergies, colds or even tonsils or adenoids that are blocking nasal passages. Habits that the children have such as thumb sucking or sucking on a blanket can also cause drying of the mouth and thus bad breath.

How To Get Rid Of Bad Breath In Children
In order to get rid of bad breath in children, the most common and efficient thing you need to do is decrease the mouth bacteria and increase saliva flow. Believe it or not, the most efficient way to achieve this is to teach your child how to brush their teeth properly. To put it simply, the better the brushing is, the less anaerobic bacteria present in your child mouth.

It is highly important that the tongue is brushed as well. A tongue scraper which is useful for adults may not be suitable for children yet. Hence, you may want to consider getting an electric toothbrush in order to make it both fun and more efficient

Mouthwashes and different fluoride rinses are not at all recommended when dealing with children because they will most likely swallow. Also, mints are not useful and as the child gets older the best alternative is still sugar free chewing gum or candy.

Conclusion
If all this did not solve the problems you should go to a doctor in order to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Your doctor would be the best person to tell you how to eliminate bad breath in children effectively.

Halitosis, or bad breath, has many causes. However, its effects are the same the world over. The best way to prevent halitosis, however, is to understand it. Different types of bad breath are cured in different ways. If you are using the wrong approach, you may not understand why the steps you are taking are not working.

Main Reasons For Bad Breath
Here are some of the most common reasons for bad breath, and what you can do about them.

1. Tongue
The most common place for breath odor to occur is on the tongue. Large amounts of natural bacteria can be found on the back of the tongue, and may not be disturbed over the course of the day. Since this part of the tongue is not frequently cleaned, these bacteria can thrive and emit unpleasant odors. Most of these odors are caused by proteins breaking down into bad smelling gases. This is why your breath may smell more after eating certain foods.

Fortunately, bad breath located at the back of the tongue is relatively easily treated. Just clean your tongue gently with a scraper or other implement designed for the purpose a few times per day. Be sure not to apply too much pressure and damage the tongue, and do not use a toothbrush. Brushing the back of the tongue can cause inadvertent gagging, which can be very unpleasant. Mouthwashes, gargled once or twice a day, can also reduce smell emanating from the back of the tongue.

2. Dental Works
Other areas of the mouth can also provide reasons for bad breath. If you have dental work that has caused food to become trapped in your teeth, have an abscess, niches in your gum that can harbor bacteria, or do not clean your dentures properly, you may discover bad smells emanating from your mouth.

The solutions for these problems vary depending on what’s wrong. Bad dental work has to be corrected by a professional. Abscesses are dangerous to health, and should be treated immediately. Problems like trapped food and dirty dentures can be treated by more thorough cleaning.

3. Gum Diseases
Some people who have gum disease may also find that their breath is particularly bad. Bacteria growing below the gum line can produce a foul smell. However, this does not happen in everyone.

4. Nose
Oddly, another place that causes bad breath is the nose. Sometimes, the breath from the nose can smell, but breath from the mouth will not. In these cases, the problem is likely caused by a sinus infection, which should be treated appropriately.

5. Tonsils
Another of the reasons for bad breath is the tonsils. Very few people actually have this problem, but if you do, it is a serious one. Around five percent of people with very bad smelling breath suffer from putrefaction of the tonsils. This should be seen to by a doctor as soon as possible.

Conclusion
As you can see, there are many reasons for your bad breath. You will need to identify the cause before you can do something about them.

We all wake up in the morning, go the bathroom and proceed to brush our teeth and tongue, followed by rinsing with a mouthwash in order to ensure that we do not have bad breath. There are, however, those unfortunate people that do not escape the symptoms of bad breath with this morning routine.

Ways to tell people that they have bad breath
It is always a possibility to tell a close friend or a relative of the person in question who has bad breath as the information can be better received and less offending when a close friend or relative informs the person about their bad breath. If you feel, however, that you are close enough to the person in question, then you could break the bad news yourself.

However, you need to uphold a certain amount of diplomacy, as it is not the nicest of things for someone to tell you. It is important that you think about how it would affect you if someone were telling you that you had the same problem. You could also ask, for example, if they have been eating garlic. By saying this, hopefully the person in question will get the message that you are sending.

Another way in which you could inform someone that they have bad breath is by sending them an email. It is a much easier process in getting the message across to the individual without having to actually tell them face-to-face. It is essential however, that you are not criticizing or funny in your email, it is essential that you remain respectful.

There are also nowadays, online services available, whereby you can send an anonymous message to someone, letting them know that they suffer with bad breath. The messages are all undertaken in jest, there is nothing spiteful about the messages, but hopefully the individual with the bad breath will get the message, so to speak, when they receive the email.

It is important also, that you try to understand why the person in question may have bad breath. It can, of course, be a medical condition which is out of their control. For this reason it is essential to seek this information primarily, before jumping in with both feet.

However, it may be that a person has poor dental hygiene, such as incorrect brushing which will leave food to decay in the teeth. Smoking can also cause a person to have bad breath, therefore, if the person in question does smoke, then you could suggest that the smoking is making their breath smell, and that maybe they should have a mint after every cigarette in order to control the smell on their breath. It is a diplomatic way of informing someone that they have bad breath.

You could also hint to the person with halitosis by taking out a packet of mints or gum, taking one out for yourself and then offering one to the person with a breath problem. This way, you are not actually telling them directly, but maybe they will understand as to why you keep doing it, and at the same time you are fixing the problem temporarily by them eating a mint or a piece of gum.

Conclusion
Whichever way to choose to inform someone about their bad breath, it is essential to remember that one day you could be in their shoes, and someone may be telling you that you have an odor problem. Therefore, be respectful, understanding and caring when discussing the matter with the individual and hopefully the bad breath problem will be solved.

Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils and generally occurs in children. It is caused by either a virus or a bacterium, which is known as streptococcus, the same bacterium that causes strep throat.

What are tonsils
The tonsils are organs which are small and almond shaped that are located in the mouth on both sides of the throat. Tonsils are seen as the main defense against disease which cause germs to enter the body through the mouth, nose and throat. They protect against germs during early childhood by producing antibodies. By attacking bacteria and viruses, antibodies play an essential role in the immune system. The only problem is that, when going through the process of protecting the body, the tonsils can become in actual fact infected themselves. This can often result the need for tonsillectomy.

What is tonsillectomy
Tonsillectomy is a process whereby the tonsils are surgically removed. They are masses of lymphatic tissue which are located in the back of the throat. Tonsils are generally only removed when the patient has inflammation or infection in the tonsils.

It is one of the most common operations performed on children in the United States today, and new methods such as laser and electrosurgery have been introduced and continue to be developed to improve the technique of tonsil surgery in order to decrease pain and discomfort.

Side effect of tonsillectomy
By having tonsillectomy, the patient can suffer afterwards with bad breath. This is due to the healing process in the back of the throat. It is also caused by the fluid which comes out of the infected lymphatic tissue. This fluid can in actual fact coat the teeth and inner mouth which will result in bad breath.

Tips to speed up recovery after tonsillectomy
It is always essential that after undergoing a tonsillectomy, you rinse and gargle with a solution of salt water to improve bad breath. By chewing gum you can also decrease the smell of the breath. It is common that most patients breathe through their mouth when sleeping and snore during the recovery period. This is due to the swelling in the back of the throat. However, this generally only lasts for two to three weeks.

Though the patient may be inclined to rinse the mouth with an everyday mouthwash to help eliminate bad breath, it is advised that such mouthwashes be avoided whilst going through the recovery period. It is important to continue with the salt water solution. This is because such off-the-shelf mouthwashes can in actual fact cause the patient to have a dry throat and mouth which will cause discomfort.

Another reason for the bad breath after tonsillectomy is that the consumption of solid food is not possible. Therefore different dietary needs are required, which means that you will be eating different foods than your body is normally used to, which may also result in bad breath.

There are a lot of reasons that cause bad breath problem and among them is garlic. Garlic is used throughout the world as an ingredient while cooking foods, preparing salads and many others. A lot of people like eating raw garlic and this is what causes their breath to smell bad. If you want to eat garlic and want to know as to how to eat garlic without bad breath and body smells, you should go ahead and read further.

Those individuals, who want to eat garlic because of its medicinal properties but do not want to suffer the consequences of having bad breath, should chop up or mash up the garlic. They should then place the chopped or mashed garlic on a spoon and swallow it with the glass of water. This method ensures that the garlic does not stay in the mouth longer than necessary. This will reduce your chances of having bad breath.

Studies have found that consuming garlic in this manner will reduce your chances of halitosis. However, if you prefer to enjoy garlic the conventional manner, I would suggest that you chew parsley or basil after your garlic. This helps to freshen your breath and remove the garlic aftertaste in your mouth.

If you prefer to eat raw garlic but is clueless as to how to eat garlic without bad breath and body smells then you should try cooking garlic, this will cut down the smell of garlic tremendously and allows you to eat it without smelling bad.

Another idea that goes for eating garlic without bad breath and body smells is to make a pickle of garlic in vinegar which just takes all the garlic odor off. You could then truly enjoy eating raw garlic with almost no garlic smell. This is a tested and proven method of preparing garlic and has got an excellent feedback from many people who have tried and tested it.

It is also important at this point to know that garlic has sulfur compounds in it which are not metabolized by the body. As such, this compound when sent into the bloodstream results in you getting body odor of garlic as well as garlic on your breath.

Another remedy that you can use to clear out your breath of garlic is to brush your teeth and tongue. Along with that, you can also use gargles or mouthwash, which will keep your breath fresh and crisp. Another remedy tried by a lot of people to banish the bad breath from garlic is to use mints which help to lessen the pungent garlic smell.

I hope that with the above mentioned solutions you would be able to combat the bad breath problem from eating garlic effectively.

Bad breath is a common condition that many people face throughout the world. It is also a very sought after topic among individuals of all ages.

There are different factors that account for the development of bad breath and hence different solutions are needed to combat it. In this article we are going to understand the connection between bad breath and lactose intolerance.

First of all we have to understand what lactose intolerance is? Firstly, lactose is a sugar, which is found in milk and other dairy products. After these foods are eaten, the lactose will be metabolized (broken down) by an enzyme known as lactase.

Unfortunately, sometimes the body does not produce lactase or there is decreased production of lactase in the body. When this happens, it will result in gastric problems and the lactose will not be broken down in the gastrointestinal tract.

When the lactose is not broken down due to the absence of the enzyme lactase, this will result in symptoms which are similar to stomach virus and hence it is difficult to discern whether the person is suffering from lactose intolerance or stomach flu.

Usually, it is only through examining each individual’s medical history and different tests that it is determined that the culprit is lactose intolerance. If you suspect that you are suffering from lactose intolerance, do share with your doctor the list of specific foods that cause you to feel uncomfortable. This will help your doctor to make a diagnosis sooner.

The signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance are nausea, cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhea and an exceptionally bad breath.

These symptoms occur because the body is not accepting the lactose. Usually, the symptoms will start to clear up once the lactose is removed from the body. Among the most significant symptom is the occurrence of very foul breath. It can be so bad that your friends around you can smell it even if they are many feet away.

Typically, people would assume that the individual is suffering from poor oral hygiene but in reality the individual is suffering from lactose intolerance.

The lactose when ingested by lactose intolerant individuals results in gastric symptoms mentioned above and the bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract acts upon the lactose rich foods and results in fermentation that produces foul smelling gas. This gas unfortunately is exhaled out through the lungs and that is how bad breath and lactose intolerance are connected.

The connection between lactose intolerance and halitosis can be further confirmed through a hydrogen breath test. Normally there is a very little amount of hydrogen present in the breath but in a lactose intolerant individual who has ingested lactose rich foods, the hydrogen content is going to be much higher than the normal. This shows that the lactose is not broken down properly.

After you have understood the connection between bad breath and lactose intolerance, you may be wondering how did you become lactose intolerant in the first place. That answer lies in your genes. Lactose intolerance can also occur with the advancing age. So if you find out that you are having halitosis and unable to find any apparent cause to it, then you must look into lactose intolerance as this might be the culprit causing this problem.
