Shamans, or tribal healers, most likely observed this behavior and developed a base of knowledge about what herbs and plants were most effective and passed that knowledge down through the generations. In addition to treating disease and injury, the body of knowledge included ways to use herbs to improve nutrition and improve mental health.</p>
<p>Despite its ancient history, herbalism has only recently reemerged as an accepted practice in the modern western world. In most European countries, once medical schools began training doctors in large numbers, the practice of herbalism fell into disfavor. In fact, many of the witch trials of the Middle Ages involved women who were actually herbalists. However, herbalism continued to be practiced uninterrupted in almost all non-industrialized countries and is still the favored method of treating disease in many parts of the world.</p>
<p>Studies in the United States on the efficacy of herbal remedies have been sparse, but in 2004 the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine began funding larger studies. In Europe, more studies have been done and herbal remedies are more widely accepted. For example, St. John&rsquo;s Wort is an herb that can be used to control mood and was a widely accepted remedy for depression in Europe long before it gained favor in the United States.</p>
<p>Although many of our most popular medicines have been developed from plants, including quinine, digitalis and codeine, scientists have only recently begun to return to plants as sources to create new medications. However, the use of plants to create medications should not be confused with true herbalism which uses the plants themselves as medication.</p>
<p>Herbal medication can be delivered as a tea, where herbs are steeped in hot water. Herbs are also used in poultices, and to infuse steam or smoke which is breathed by the patient. Breathing the smoke from burning sage, for example, has been used as a treatment for asthma. Camphor is a plant whose smell is familiar to anyone who has used Vick&rsquo;s Vapor Rub. Breathing the scent of camphor helps clear the sinuses.</p>
<p>Because plants contain such powerful chemicals, there is some risk associated with herbal medicine. Dosage, for example, is hard to standardize and control since two plants of the same species might have completely different levels of the chemical compounds necessary for healing. Also, herbal remedies can interact with more traditional drugs that a patient might be taking.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last time I opened the door of the fridge I was really hungry and became really frustrated to discover that all my health food has gradually disappeared and I was left with some ketchup, an egg and an ice-cold water container. Since I come from a family that has always been stacking the fridge with food that one could not consider as healthy, when I moved to my own place, I decided to develop healthy eating habits and forget my past sins. But adapting to my new healthy eating habits was not as easy as I first thought. Soon I missed late night orders of huge pizzas, ice-cream and swest beverages like sodas and milkshakes. But even if my craving were driving me crazy at the beginning, I managed to keep myself in shape and not surrender to the voice inside my stomach that screamed &quot;feed me now.&quot; Thus, after successfully sticking to my own word and fulfilling the promise to myself, I am ready to share my wisdom with the rest of the world. </p>
<p>Developing healthy eating habits should not be a miserable ordeal. Unfortunately, most of us are always on the run, rushing to get somewhere, or to successfully have something completed on time. In the meantime we forget to stop and think of our stomachs that complain for letting them starve and thus, when we return home exhausted they usually take their revenge. In those difficult times we put in our mouths whatever is easier prepared or delivered faster, forgetting to consume foods with less calories, saturated fat, sugar, and salt. When this happens, we end up gaining weight and increasing our chances of acquiring various illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.</p>
<p>For those reasons, learning to eat healthy should begin from an early age in a person&rsquo;s life. But even if you were not fortunate enough to be properly food educate, like myself, it is never too late to alter your dietary habits and begin eating the quantities of food you should at the time you should consume them. </p>
<p>Begin by adding a meal you most probably have been avoiding all this time, due to lack of available time. Set your alarm clock twenty minutes earlier than usual and begin eating breakfast. If this sounds like too much of a sacrifice for just a worthless meal, you should better think again. Breakfast is considered according to all dieticians as the most important meal of the day, since it changes your metabolism back to normal stages and helps you feel less hungry as the day progresses. Then you should add a light lunch and eat a balanced dinner not later than three hours before your night sleep. Generally try to avoid caffeine and drink plenty of water instead. If coffee is the only way you can wake up in the morning, it is best if you limit the quantity to one cup a day. </p>
<p>Finally, add fresh fruits and plenty of green vegetables to your diet. Both will help you visit the bathroom on a regular basis and will give you the necessary energy kick you need to cope with your usual daily routine. Remember to follow the advice listed here and you will soon experience the outcomes of developing a healthy nutritional plan as you will feel less tired and much more energetic every single day of the week</p>

<p>Described as the &quot;Mediterranean Miracle&quot; has been regarded one of the most healthful dietary oils due to its high content of monounsaturated fat-mainly Oleic acid-and polyphenols. According to numerous studies has tremendous positive health outcomes when daily included as part of a diet plan. In fact, the life expectancy rates of the countries around the Mediterranean Sea have been found to be greater in comparison to other countries that do not use olive oil as part of their daily diet plan. </p>

<p>According to a recent study conducted in the Netherlands, researchers concluded that a high-fat olive oil diet was far superior to an ordinary low-fat diet in controlling levels of cholesterol, as their study findings portrayed; the cholesterol levels of the group studied while consuming olive oil was reduced by twenty points, whereas the control group that followed a low-fat diet plan saw an average reduction of seventeen points in cholesterol levels. </p>
<p>In addition, widespread studies have shown that consumption of oil can lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Tests have illustrated that, as little as three fluid ounces of olive oil a day can significantly lower blood pressure. In fact, olive oil can even lower the blood pressure of those people eating a high fat diet -high fat being defined as forty percent of calories coming from fat. </p>
<p>Finally, additional testing has concluded that oil can markedly lower blood glucose levels. This is especially crucial for those fighting diabetes, since they are advised to switch from a high carbohydrate and low fat diet to a high fat-around fifty percent of calories coming from fat-with most of that fat consumed coming from oil. This type of diet has very positive results for diabetics, as they can lower their blood sugar levels to such a degree that they require less insulin intake. </p>
<p>Finally, one should know that olive oil has antioxidant characteristics that help inhibit the process that produces LDL (the bad-type of cholesterol); this actually explains why olive oil considered a good heart attacks prevention ingredient. Furthermore, olive oil&rsquo;s antioxidant capabilities can also inhibit the development of certain types of cancers among many other heath problems. </p>

Golf etiquettes are no rules, they are mere manners or behavior of golfers that they need to be careful about when they enter the golf course, make their way through the game and finally step out of the golf course. These etiquettes, if followed can help a golfer play a perfect game. </p>
<p>The player should always try to arrive as early as possible on the course to have enough time to find out a few things. Not everyone can do that but it is very convenient if you can grab hold of a caddie. These caddies can be of great support and help to you. They not carry your clubs they can provide you with guidelines, they can give you pointers. They can give you tips that you may be ignoring while you play. They can do readings for you and so on. It&rsquo;s always good to have someone by your side to support your game.</p>
<p>Why you need to arrive early is because it can give you time to check the score boards, because courses may have different rules of scoring and if you don&rsquo;t already know that it can have a bad affect on your game. You can simply roam about and mingle up with the other players, have small talk so that you feel comfortable with the opponents.</p>
<p>Something very important before you start your game is that you get a proper warm up. You should at least give half an hour to 15 minutes to warming up. This little exercise before golf or any other games is very important. It gives you confidence and makes you feel at ease. You get to feel that you are ready to play otherwise you will probably feel stiff and uncomfortable and your swings will definitely disappoint you. </p>
<p>You should always play heartily, never be rigid. Never offend your opponent. Stay calm and never leave a bad impression on the other players. Take care of the tee and never leave prints and even if you do make a mark; remove it before leaving. Encourage others, watch your steps, plan ahead and play for fun and enjoy!</p>

The truth is that we take more time thinking how to solve a problem we get into rather than thinking of how to avoid the problem from occurring in the first place. Stress at work has a similar story. Almost all of us get stressed at work very easily and very few of us manage to avoid it, though the solutions are very simple. </p>
<p>The main problems at work are mismanagement of work. A lot of people tend to fail in managing their work properly and end up either falling short of completing it before the deadline or with very poor quality of the work. This leads to the idea of the boss getting a bad impression and therefore less chances of promotion or even being fired if the work was important or this was not the first time you screwed up, and eventually all of it leads to stress. We should learn to manage our work properly to avoid such problems from occurring.  First of all, keep a daily schedule of how much you plan to accomplish in each days work. </p>
<p>Plan it in such a way that you do not overload yourself and just do as much as you need to do daily to finish the work a day or two before the deadline. Doing less work each day means you can give it more concentration and improve on the quality of the work too. A good technique is to start with the hardest part of the work first and then approach the less hard ones later. Though this sounds like a more stressful way of handling work, however, the effect is quite the opposite. Once the hardest and most important part of the job is complete, the person can relax while doing the remaining parts.  </p>
<p>Self belief plays a major role in stress control. Having enough faith in yourself that you can handle anything and everything without much trouble help make you confident through your work and relieves you from stress. Another thing that sometimes tends to buy us stress is when we involve ourselves into others problems. Do not trouble yourself with problems of your coworkers. Manage your work in office and your life at home in some balance. Good management is the number one stress killer.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After Friday&rsquo;s lunch-brake, millions of working individuals around the world are checking their office clocks counting the minutes before it is officially allowed for them to go home, relax with their family and friends and put their minds at ease. After all, it is weekend time! But wait, if you think of it again, I believe it slowly comes into focus that weekend time equals &quot;free&quot; time and &quot;free&quot; time means time for recreational activities. What a bummer! </p>
<p>You now seem disappointed to leave the office, which looks like a secure environment, and to be forced to go out, have fun, do shopping, meet people you haven&rsquo;t seen for at least a week, take the kids to that theme park you have promised at a moment of weakness, clean the house, do the laundry, organize the garage, join your sport club, watch the game from your special reserved seats, organize that barbecue everyone has been waiting for, and so on. </p>
<p>Well, I might have been carried away, since some of these activities cannot be considered recreational, but a lot of others, even if not included in this list, are. Before turning back to reenter your office premises, try to maintain your optimistic side alive and realize that yes, weekends are short, but they are still your chance to elude and experience in full the recreational activity of your choice.</p>
<p>You have been waiting for the right time to announce to your folks that you are ready to join your friends and begin those scuba diving lessons you wanted for so long. When you actually managed to convince them that you will be careful and that sharks cannot be found anywhere near your instructor&rsquo;s pool, you have to squeeze the classes into your busy weekend schedule and still manage to do all the other things you have been postponing for a while. Cut yourself some slack here!</p>
<p> You are an energetic individual that has lots of things to worry about during the week. Don&rsquo;t add to you worries the fact that you will not be able to go out with your female friend and help her select a new set of curtains to match her recently acquired living room leather couch. You hate promising and then breaking a promise, but if you are honest with yourself, your needs, and with your friend, it is more likely that she will forgive you this time. </p>
<p>Just don&rsquo;t make it a habit. What I am trying to say here is that you should put some priorities in your life and select which recreational activity to do when, depending on your needs and wants. You should not become an egoistic person that never considers other peoples&rsquo; thoughts and feelings, but at the same time you should not forget that your own time is your own to invest where you see fit. Try to find the balance between what you need for yourself, what others need from you and what you want to succeed at the end of the day; much like the office deal you know how to handle. Guard your weekend time as your precious time to do the things you want the most. </p>
<p>Multitasking and over-committing yourself is a habit you should quit, since it is not healthy for you to always be on the run from errand to errand, visit to visit, promise to promise. Your weekends should be a time of relaxation, rejuvenation, and pleasure, and not a time for you to go crazy for the things you did not manage to complete in less than 48 hours! Nobody should blame you for investing in yourself. Even those who will attempt should know better. Teach them what it is like to lie down on Sunday night feeling confident with yourself and proud of weekend&rsquo;s recreational accomplishments.</p>

<p>Between battling work problems and prepare ourselves for another demanding day, we have forgotten to pay attention to the most important meal of the day and usually try to find time to squeeze in a cup of milk or in best cases a whole bowl of cereals. The contemporary fast-paced world has directed people to become superheroes, managing double of even triple careers, but forgetting to manage their own daily food intake. If you think that your body is the only instrument you have to continue performing all the tasks you want, perhaps it is time to pay attention to its nutritional needs and fulfill them accordingly.</p>
<p>But it is more convincing to start our argument from the beginning. Millions of people who skip breakfast and have never invested time in researching the consequences of their act, usually wonder why do experts regard breakfast as the most important meal of the day and how come it is still the most important meal of the day, surpassing the nutritional value of a healthy lunch or even dinner. However, for millions others who do eat a healthy breakfast, their secret to good health lies within this first day&rsquo;s meal. So, it is vital for you to understand why eating breakfast is crucial for your overall heath. </p>
<p>While you are sleeping, your body continues to perform its functions and thus consuming resources, but in a lower rate than when you are awake since your metabolism slows down to compensate for the decreased energy needs. You do not have a basketball court with the official size close to your place and the last time you played, Michael Jordan was still with Chicago Bulls. Now you are really disappointed and you feel that the only thing you have among the ones needed for a good game is a ball, and you are not really sure if it is in the attic, the garage or the trash can. </p>
<p>So, are you going to sit on your couch and watch Dwayne Wade playing against Dirk Nowitzki? Or are you going to play a basketball game on play station? I thought you said that you like playing basketball not watching it on TV.</p>

Just as five-on-five basketball is best played on a full court, three-on-three is made for a half court. Moreover, it is far easier to find five more people to play with you instead of nine, and you can always attract their attention by mentioning that they will not have to run up and down a five-on-five full court, but just half of it.</p>
