Many people refuse to even consider online dating. When you ask them why, you get reasons that range from skepticism about the whole process to fear of what they maybe getting into. A lot of people just want to stick with the tried and true traditional dating. They figure the risks will be a lot less than meeting someone they have never seen in person.

While that is a fair point, it seems to neglect the fact that traditional dating also contains a certain amount of risk. For instance even if a good friend sets you up with a blind date, you have no idea of what you maybe walking into. Yet thousands of people every year still go out on blind dates.

Online dating is no different and like the offline world you have to practice caution and common sense when hooking up for the first time.

1. The Meeting Place
No matter how much you two hit it off when you are chatting online, keep in mind you still do not really know each other. Do not kid yourself into believing that meeting at your house or theirs will put both of you at ease and make the date go better. It might but do not take that chance. You can do perfectly well learning about the other person in a public place. In addition, stay away from secluded areas and places with poor lighting. You can always do some reconnaissance work and scope out the meeting place ahead of time. Try to avoid any first date that appears to start a little too late in the evening. If you are jittery bring along a chaperone and encourage your date to do the same.

2. Transportation
If the two of you have your own cars, then use them. Do not offer to pick your date up and vice versa. Do not have a vehicle? Then make arrangements with a friend or a family member (offer to pay for gas). In the event that your people cannot provide transportation, carry money for a cab or just catch the bus. Politely decline if your date does offer a ride. If you two are on the same wavelength they should understand where you are coming from.

3. Non alcoholic
Drinking has long been a part of the social scene. Nothing wrong with that but try your best to avoid it on your first date. If you do drink, keep it to just one (preferably something very mild) and nurse it. It is not that you are on a quest to get drunk; maybe one beverage does not even affect you but it can impair your judgment no matter how miniscule. When you are on this first date, you want and need all of your faculties to be sharp.

4. Tell someone
Do not just walk out of the house without letting your family and friends know where you are going. If you have a cell phone carry it with you. Make sure you check in with them during and after the date; especially afterwards. To check in during the date, just excuse yourself briefly. The key word here is BRIEFLY. Being away too long might make your date a little nervous.

5. Listen to You
Your mind is telling you the evening is going very well but your intuition is ringing like a five alarm fire bell. If it does not feel right to you then cut the date short and leave at once. Do not be embarrassed and you are under no obligation to go into a detailed explanation of why. Just politely make your apologies and go. Trust your intuition and let it play a major role in your decision making process. Better an awkward exit now then a bad situation later.

Dating carries risks when you are meeting someone for the first time. Sure you want to be relaxed and have a great time but you still must practice some safety tips. Meeting someone new can be exhilarating but to keep it on the positive side requires a little common sense and caution on your part.

It is just a point of fact that to really take off with affiliate internet marketing, you need to establish your presence online. If you have not done so already get a good domain name and web host. After that, it is just a matter of driving enough web traffic to your site so customers can take advantage of your offer or sign up to your opt in email list. However there is one question that many affiliate businesses have failed to address: "Where is their internet traffic coming from?" By not doing so, they are leaving money on the table.

This is why it is essential to implement some type of tracking system into your internet business plan. Tracking (whether you use software or an online service) allows you to find and take note of every click-through made by visitors to your website. If you are promoting more than one affiliate product or service, you can find out which of your campaigns is attracting the most click throughs, which ones need tweaking and the ones to get rid of. Knowing which campaigns are having a negative impact on your advertising budget can save you a lot of money.

It also comes down to time. There are only so many hours in a day and you cannot waste them by promoting an affiliate product that has no appeal. We live in a world where hype is 24/7. Scores of affiliate marketers get swept up in the hysteria and fall in love with a product they figure everyone will love as much as they do. Not. Failure to set up a tracking system means they squander time that could have been used to promote a program that visitors are truly interested in.

Numerous affiliate marketers have decided to purchase their own tracking software. While this is definitely a good investment, it is not totally necessary. As stated previously there are a ton of free services online you can use to track your affiliate campaigns. Many offer very comprehensive ad and link tracking with excellent statistical breakdowns. You can set up multiple tracking links for the same campaign and watch the results in real time.

No matter which one you use make sure your links are presentable. A tracking link has the tendency to look like an affiliate link. Just like web visitors are hesitant to click a link that looks like it will take them to a sales page, they will also be dubious about clicking a link that looks like you’re tracking their movements. Use one of the many link cloakers available or simply go to a place like tinyurl. Also use a hyper link that is keyword optimized.

There is no limit to what you can do with good tracking system; from who on your opt in list is actually opening and reading your emails, to knowing which of your website banner ads is working. Affiliate internet marketing requires a lot of work to be successful but you can take much of the guesswork out of it by making ad tracking part of your online business system.

One of the major benefits of online dating is the ability to remain anonymous. As we all know there is something about an air of mystery that excites many of us. The less a person reveals about themselves, the more we want to know about them. That is human nature and its something online dating exploits quite effectively. Being anonymous also seems to liberate many of us. People become less inhibited about sharing their inner thoughts online with people they really don’t know.

And that brings us to the flip side of being anonymous online; the power to deceive. Whether it’s exaggerating a dating profile or putting up a fake picture, online dating comes with built in pitfalls. Even if you are with a dating service that does a great job of screening prospective suitors, there is no one hundred percent guarantee. Many people that lie are quite good at it and being anonymous only sharpens their skills.

Are you being misled? Here are some ways you can find out.

1. Good Answer. Maybe Too Good.
They like the same things you do. In fact they like everything you like. This should get your antenna working. Why? For the simple reason there is no such thing as one hundred percent compatibility. It does not exist in the offline world so do not expect it online just because you have more would-be dating partners to choose from.

Of course the other person could be doing this for a number of reasons. They may really want you to like them, so they figure telling you what you want to hear is the best way to do this. They maybe unthrilled by their own life’s history, so avoid any mention of their likes and dislikes. Or it could be something more sinister. You don’t know so be on guard.

2. That’s Not What You Said the Last Time
Your date tells you about the time they saved those ten kids in an apartment house fire ("maybe you read about it"). The next time it’s twelve. Or they tell you the reason they broke up with their ex is because of family disapproval. The next time you discuss it the reason has changed to mutual consent. Why the discrepancies? Exactly what are they trying to hide? If they continue to change the stories or become quite defensive when you point out the inconsistencies, then watch out.

3. You Got a Feeling
The answers the other person gives are to your liking. The stories are consistent and seem to check out But your heart still says avoid them like the plague. What do you do? Go with your instinct. There is no logical rhyme or reason when it comes to instinct but in more cases than not, it has been known to steer many of us away from potentially disastrous situations. Your instincts maybe able to pick up things that are not so obvious.

The power of being anonymous has been taken to a new level with online dating but that does not give someone the right to deceive. If the other person’s answers seem too good, too inconsistent or your intuition is telling you no, then it’s best to avoid them. You are online to have fun and develop a relationship. Lying is not part of the equation.

According to recent numbers, 40 million Americans have jumped into the online dating pool. The amount of usage and particular dating agencies varies per individual of course but even with taking these things into account, online dating is becoming more comfortable and accessible to the general population. For instance, Online Dating Magazine estimates there are over 120,000 marriages per year that are a direct result of internet dating. These numbers are only going to grow as the online dating becomes more interactive

Unfortunately there is a flip side. Many of us have heard or seen the stories about online hookups that have gone tragically wrong. While these incidents remain in the definite minority, they do exist.

Many free online dating services have yet to implement a screening process. The result is you really do not have any guarantees about the other person you are trying to meet. But let us face it; even if they prescreen applicants thoroughly, people have been known to lie. This means the responsibility of online dating safety falls squarely on to your shoulders. Use the following tips as guidelines and then later on add more of your own.

1. Good Judgment
None of us is perfect so you can never be right one hundred percent of the time but trusting someone online that you just met with the most intimate details of your life is not a good idea. In fact, it is downright dangerous. Trust has to be earned offline so the same should go double on the internet. If you sense the person on the other end is lying, then there is a strong likelihood they probably are.

It is not only the lack of telling the truth that should set off bells and whistles. Maybe they seem a little too aggressive in their answers or way too anxious to meet you immediately. Whatever the case, keep your thinking logical and your common sense on high alert.

2. Go Slow on Sharing Personal Information
You have probably seen those online dating profiles where the person volunteers every bit of their personal information including the exact hour they were born. Eventually you are going to share things like your phone number and home address but do not rush it. Also make sure your signature file is turned off or at the very least, it does not have any identifying information. Do a little bit more chatting and investigating.

3. One Phone Call Away
Okay so you both agree that it is time to hear each other’s voices. Now you are still in the investigation phase so do yourself a favor and call from a public phone (no need to give your cell phone or home number just yet). You should be able to get a better feel for the other person by having a phone conversation. Do you sense something in their tone or words that make you uneasy? Are the answers a little too perfect for your taste (i.e. telling you what they think you want to hear?). After you hang up do some serious analyzing. If you have to talk it over with someone close to you, than by all means do so.

Online dating is the new wave and it can be a lot of fun but to get the most out of it, you must include safety as one of your top priorities. There are other steps that you should follow but start by going slow with sharing your personal information, the phone conversation and above all exercise good judgment. Keep in mind that it is better to be unhurried and overly cautious, than to let your emotions rush you into a bad situation.

Technorati is the largest blog search engine online. According to their recent statistics, there are now over 94 million blogging web sites online with 175,000 being created everyday. Very impressive growth for this new/old technology but the most impressive number and the one which affects your business the most is the one from the Pew Internet & American Life Project. They estimate that 57 million adults read blogs on a regular basis. That’s a lot of potential customers for your internet business which is why you should start setting up a blog right now.

Quite of few of the mega online companies have taken advantage of this phenomenon. Instead of going the traditional route, these companies have put their trust in blogging and been rewarded with business growth and profits rivaling anything they did previously.

Of course you do not have to have to be a multi-national corporation to jump into the blog pool. The fact that blogs are usually an all in one package, easy to set up and easier to run makes it ideal for small and home based businesses. Also considering blogs are loved by search engines, you can go a long way to raising your online visibility.

Now this does not mean blogging is a set it and forget it enterprise. The money and site traffic is not going to come rolling in without some serious effort on your part. They include:

a. Regular updates
You have probably seen those blogs which have not updated their content since Eisenhower left office. Okay I’m exaggerating but the point is if you do not add fresh content to your blog website on a regular basis, search engines will not visit.

Try to post to your blog at least three times a week. If you can do more, fine, It’s also going to help if you write most of the content yourself. People want a fresh unique perspective they can’t find anywhere else. A good resource to assist you would be staying up to date with current affairs. It can be the latest political news or which celebrity is on their way to the hoosegow. Whatever it is, try to incorporate it into your blog content.

If you are unsure about writing, you can always outsource the job to any number of article writing companies. Either or, the point is to update your blog website frequently.

b. Sound off
No matter your topic, you must have a place for your blog readers to express themselves.
This can help you in targeting your desired audience. Even if just one person comes to your blog at least they are showing up. Invite criticism and suggestions. Use them as a gauge to find out how to attract more people to your blog.

One other major benefit to having a comment section is that every time a person provides feedback, the search engines view it as fresh content on your blog website; meaning they will crawl your site more often.

c. Linking
There are a couple of ways you want to do this. The first is getting one way links to your blog website. This is usually done in the form of writing articles. When you submit an article to the many directories, other bloggers may see it and post it to their site. By having a link in the byline of your article pointing back to your blog, this will provide you with one way links.

Another way is to just start contacting other blog owners and trade links with them. While not as valuable as a one way link, reciprocal linking is still effective. Just make sure the blog you are link exchanging with is within your niche but not in direct competition with you.

Monetize your blog by linking to different tools and resources that your blog readers can utilize. Also, it is okay to point them to a resource which has no connection to your site. People will appreciate the additional information

Blogging is only going to grow and become more interactive. Do yourself a favor and setup your blog now, update it frequently with unique information, invite feedback and implement your linking strategy. By doing this you are bound to see better marketing results for your online business.

Okay. You’ve done all the things the dating experts told you to do on how to meet women and lo and behold it worked. You met an attractive woman and she wants to go out with you. Great. However if you want to make this first date your last and guarantee that she avoids any future contact with you as if you had a plague from the 12th century than utilize the following tips:

1. Lateness
You planned out this date in great detail. You obviously planned also not to be on time. It is one thing to call and let her know you are running a little behind schedule but are on the way. It is another to show up an hour later (or worse) and not even give her the courtesy of a phone call. When it comes to going out somewhere, many women are sticklers for promptness. You do not get a second chance to make a first impression and showing up late tells her you are not really taking this date seriously

2. What conversation?
Your date starts talking and talking and talking. Not because she wants to but because you do not have anything to say other than an occasional "uh-huh". It could be nerves on your part or you were just unprepared to speak on any subject. Whatever it is, having to drag conversation out of your date is not a woman’s idea of fun.

This goes for the opposite end of the spectrum also. Practicing conversation hogging or slapping down her opinion each time she attempts to contribute to the discussion may give her the following impression: "This guy is a jerk." Chances are that’s not the vibe you wanted to give out.

3. What humor?
You don’t know any jokes. You don’t make any humorous comments. As a matter of fact, when she says something funny you go out of your way to analyze it and find the serious point in what she was trying to say. Yuck. No one wants to be around a stick in the mud. Sharing some laughs with her can work absolute wonders so lighten up.

Now keep in mind she never agreed to go out on a date with Bozo the Clown either. Laughing at anything and everything is not healthy. Doing this could make her a little nervous about you. She could also come to the conclusion you have some serious issues to work out.

4. Pretend
This is known in some circles as lying. Sure you want to impress her but exaggerating your importance is not the way to do it. Starting a dating relationship with a lie is a formula for disaster. If your date senses that you are lying, that disaster will come sooner than you think.

5. She reminds me of
If you want to guarantee this is your last date with her than start here. You are out with her and talking about your ex wife, former girlfriends or any other women you have on your mind is not going to further the relationship. She agreed to go out on this date with you. You would do well to treat her like she is the most important woman in your life at this moment.

Of course there are other things you can do to foul up your chances of getting a second date. Talking on your cell phone incessantly, forgetting her name (repeatedly) or drifting off to never never land when she is talking. All are pretty effective but for right now stick with the five listed above and before you know it, you will be home every night watching reruns of Sanford and Son.

John Huston, the director of such classic movies as The Maltese Falcon and The Treasure of Sierra Madre, once told the story that when a woman invited his good friend Ernest Hemingway out to the dance floor, Hemingway responded, "Criminy! I hate dancing in public so much I’d rather write!"

Many of us have been there done that. True, for article marketing online you do not have to write the Great American Novel but that doesn’t stop people from hating it just the same. Some complain about doing the research, others don’t like the brainstorming. While most of us can relate, the simple truth is manyt writers just cannot bare the thought of looking at a blank page and having to fill it. This is tough if you plan on making article marketing part of your online business plan; since you will have to repeat this process over and over again.

What’s the solution? Articles which have already been written that reside in the public domain. An excellent definition of public domain is provided by the Online Library Learning Center: "Works which are not owned by someone, and therefore not protected by copyright." This occurs when the writer has voluntarily given up the rights to their own material, the copyright has expired or the work was published before the existence of any copyright laws.

Everything is basically laid out for you. It just comes down to finding the material that is right for your subject matter. Once this is completed you simply rewrite the article into your own words. Because the time to research your article has been drastically reduced and you don’t have to start with a blank page, this may be the fastest and easiest way to churn out articles on a steady basis.

It’s also very cost effective. Many new or successful online businesses would just resolve themselves to outsourcing the chore of article writing. Even if the funds are available, it is still going to get expensive. Why? Because you are going to need a lot of fresh unique content on your website to make an impact with search engines (the same engines that will bring you the bulk of your internet traffic). Rewriting public domain articles, optimized with the proper keywords, is an excellent way to grow your website. You can then use the money you would have spent on outsourcing to invest in some other area of your business.

Use public domain articles in your email newsletter or put several articles together and create an ebook that you distribute freely. Just make sure to brand your name and put a link in the book pointing back toward your website.

The key to all of this is to rewrite the material thoroughly. Public domain articles may not have a copyright but it also means the public at large is familiar with the information. Copying almost word for word is quite amateurish and extremely lazy. Use a public domain article as a framework to incorporate your own original ideas.

Article marketing requires a steady flow of creativity. Public domain articles are an incredible resource which can provide the solution to your web content needs. Tap into this overlooked goldmine starting today and give your article writing a major boost.

This argument has been raging for awhile. In the early days of cyberspace, internet banner advertising was a hot commodity, then it moved into the not so effective stage, followed by being labeled a relic of the past, and now it has been declared dead by people "in the know". Apparently some of the major news services and mega companies online did not get the memo because they still use banner ads; and quite profitably.

A web site banner is an advertisement in the form of image and text. Though you will see banner ads placed in a variety of different areas, they are commonly used at the top of a webpage. This technique maybe considered a holdover from when internet banner advertising was in its glory days but it really serves a more practical purpose. The top of the page is where you are most likely to attract the attention of your visitors.

So why the rush to place banner advertising alongside the fossil remains of the tyrannosaurus at your local museum? Part of it is that since the internet moves at warped speed, many people figure something old as web banner advertising cannot be effective or they just never had much success even when these types of ads were in vogue. Whatever the reason, a web site banner (like any form of advertisement) can do a nice job of promoting your products or services, when used effectively. Use one or a combination of these tips to get you started.

1. Land of the Free
This word does something to all of us. Mainly it gets us to explore further. Advertise a free giveaway on your web site banner related to your target market. Offer a free ebook or helpful video that gets people curious to find out more. When they click the ad banner, you can lead them to signup page, with an opt in email form. If your initial free offer is enticing enough, then people will not mind giving you their contact information

2. Free Banner Exchange
The people over at the website Marketing Terms have come up with the simplest and best definition of a banner exchange program: "I will show your ads on my site in exchange for getting to show my ads on your site." This is a very cost effective way to get your banner on hundreds if not thousands of other websites. Many banner exchanges will work hard to match your ad banner to a relevant website. Keep in mind this is not always feasible so you may get stuck putting banner ads on your site outside of your niche.

3. Paid Banner Ads
As the name implies you are paying for your banner to be advertised on other websites. The key to ensuring this method yields some good return on your investment is to make sure the website you are advertising on delivers the web traffic they promise. You also want your web site banner to be placed in an area that’s clearly visible and not on the same page as ten or twenty other banner ads.

4. Free Traffic Exchange
This too has been labeled passe and ineffective but it works and banner ads are perfect for traffic exchanges. You know of course that for every site you surf you accumulate some type of credit. You can then exchange however many credits you choose for banner impressions (your web site banner displayed on another site within the exchange). Why is this so effective? On average, click thru rates of traffic exchange banners are greater than banner only exchanges. This is one of the great secrets of traffic exchanges that can boost your internet business considerably.

Web banner advertising is not extinct. Like anything else you must go about using it correctly. Offer something for free, do your homework when it comes to free exchanges and paid ads while utilizing the hidden goldmine of traffic exchanges. In the end you will find that web banner advertising, far from being a relic of the past, is still very much alive and profitable.

Well you did it. You finally asked that attractive woman out on a date and to your delight she said yes. Way to go. Now as normal for many men a little bit of panic sets in. Not because you want to back out of the date (you do not) but for the simple reason you want everything to go well.

That is a great attitude to have but do not press it. There is no such thing as a perfect date and putting all of your energy and effort to accomplish this could lead to results neither of you expect nor desire. As you know many things happen in life which we have no control over so do not sweat it.

Instead focus on what you do have a reasonable amount of influence over. You. Here are a few tips along those lines.

1. Grooming
The musical group ZZ Top once sang, "Every girl is crazy about a sharp dressed man". It may not be every girl but the overwhelming majority of women would probably agree. Make sure you are groomed and neat. Use some nice cologne without smelling like you fell into a swimming pool of the stuff. Your clothes should also be cleaned and pressed. Do not show up at her door looking like you slept in the same suit for three days. Remember you never get a second chance to make a first impression and being well groomed is going to play a major role in how she perceives you.

2. Promptness
If you say you will pick her up tonight at seven thirty, make sure it is seven thirty or even a little before. Showing up a half hour to an hour late is a good way to start things off on the wrong foot. Also make the necessary plans and arrangements beforehand so you will not be hurried. This does not mean you should rigidly adhere to a previously worked out schedule. Being excessively time conscious can take the fun and spontaneity out of a date. Promptness and good planning tells her you made the effort to ensure she has a good time.

3. Polite
You and your date are having a pretty decent conversation when suddenly it happens. Your cell phone rings. Not only do you take the call but instead of being brief and telling the party on the other line you will contact them later, you proceed to have an in depth conversation with the person. Meanwhile your date is, shall we say, less than impressed. Signaling her to give you a couple of more minutes and then telling her about the conversation after you hang up are only making things worse.

What is the solution? Turn your cell phone off. This is an example of a modern form of rudeness on a date but it is not does not have to be just a cell phone. Going over to chat with someone you recognize, talking over her in a conversation, being blunt and then trying to disguise it as honesty are all forms of rudeness; the list is of course endless. Nobody wants to go out with a jerk so be considerate to her.

4. Relax

Being tense can put the whole date on edge. It can also make your smile and attempts at humor come off as phony, so calm down. You are out with this attractive woman because she WANTED to go out with you and WANTED to have a good time. Do not approach your date like world peace hangs in the balance. Take that heavy load off your back and enjoy yourself.

The whole point to going on a date is to have a good time. This one fact puts you and her on the same page. Follow thru by making sure you are well groomed, prompt, courteous and relaxed. By doing this you can almost guarantee that you and she will share quality time together.

In a recent survey conducted by Marketing Sherpa, affiliate merchants were asked about the main challenges in affiliate internet marketing. The clear majority responded that it was finding and recruiting high quality affiliates.

This is not surprising. Affiliate internet marketing is a great example of the 80/20 rule. Eighty percent of affiliates generate only twenty percent of the profits while twenty percent of affiliate marketers generate eighty percent of the revenue.

Why the disparity? Part of the reason is that many people are just getting into affiliate marketing and have a learning curve to go thru. That is understandable but a larger reason is that many affiliates whether beginner or grizzled veteran are making mistakes that are costing them big time dollars and will continue to do so.

1. Not treating it as a business
Affiliate Marketing has many advantages such as no overhead, no products to stock or customer complaints to deal with. Just promote the product and if someone buys you get paid. Great but it is still a business. That means you must:

a. Set up an action plan and follow thru on it.
b. Set realistic timetables for generating income.
c. Get a website
d. Buy a domain name
e. Research your target markets
f. Brand your affiliate business
g. Write content
h. Advertise
i. Track
j. Keep records

And much more. This is not a hobby. Earning income online is a full time effort. If you have not done so already set up your office space and allot specific times in your day where you work on nothing but your affiliate business.

2. Choosing the wrong affiliate program
Because of the never ending advertising most of us face on a daily basis, there is a tendency for many affiliates to get caught up in the hype. They choose a big ticket item because it pays out great commissions or some product that is being advertised as the next great thing. There is nothing wrong with this unless you do not do your homework. Of course you should have some interest in the product but the more important point is there should be a market for that affiliate program you want to promote.

Watch the news; check out the forums, read some articles. Ask questions or conduct surveys on your website. Do not confine your research to just learning about your affiliate program. Check out the world around it and how it could affect your target market.

3. Too many at a Time
One of the things top affiliate marketers have in common is focus. The ability to pick one affiliate program, bring it to profit, put a system in place so the program runs on autopilot (providing the affiliate with steady income), rinse and repeat.

But it starts with the one affiliate program. Many affiliates naturally want to generate multiple streams of income but expending your effort on five things at once increases the chances of not achieving any of them. Pick one that has some interest to you and that you already know has a solid target market, and then follow your action plan. When you start making a steady profit, then move on to the next program. Also try to put an autopilot system in place. Getting clear of the day to day activities of running any online business is the only true way to grow that business.

Building a money making affiliate business that can run without you takes hard work and patience with yourself. Do your research, choose the right program, give all of your attention and effort to it, then proceed to the next affiliate product. Treat your affiliate business like a business and you can not go wrong.
